Xavi Torres

Xavi Torres is a virtuoso pianist and one of the most prominent young voices on the European jazz scene. Trained in both classical and jazz at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, he has released nearly ten albums and is now based in Barcelona. His latest project, Quarentena Songs, is currently on tour with Reinier Elizarde “El Negrón” on double bass and Andreu Pitarch on drums.

Throughout his career, he has received accolades including the Dutch Jazz Competition with his trio and the Enderrock Award for Best Jazz Album and Best Jazz Band in Catalonia (2020 and 2023). He also made history as the second Spanish finalist at the Thelonious Monk Jazz Piano Competition (Washington DC, 2018), the world’s most prestigious jazz contest, following Jorge Rossy in 1992.

Critics have praised his “astonishing virtuosity and creativity that transcends genres and formats” (El País). All About Jazz noted that “Torres displays impressive technical command and a unique sensitivity in turning ideas into emotions”.

With a multifaceted artistic drive that has led him to collaborate in a wide variety of projects and formats, Xavi Torres is now preparing the release of his tenth album, scheduled for spring 2026.
